Between Wednesday and Thursday...

The day is spent and I'm well past tired, but I thought I'd share some things that caught my eye sometime between Wednesday and Thursday.

I spotted these interesting icicles clinging to the curved side of my fuel tank. In the photo above, my neighbor's son (a former student of mine) runs past my house, enjoying the sunshine that is getting brighter and lasting longer every day.

I am just dying to photograph snowflakes. I've tried a couple of things and this is the best I can do with my current (very old) camera. In spite of the poor quality...can you see the shimmering snowflake closest to the center of the photo? I think it looks like the Star of David....what do you think?

I snapped a shot of my neighbor as he was crossing the pond in front of my house. I didn't realize until I saw the larger version of this photo that he was waving to me. I hope I waved to him as well...I couldn't quite remember!

These tires are on the playground in front of the school. Due to the warmer temperatures last week, the tires have recently emerged from the thick layer of snow that's been concealing them for most of the winter.

Precious claimed the pushed-snow mountain as her own. Actually, I think she was looking for caribou. She surprised a couple the other day and ended up chasing them about a mile across the river before giving up. She's a lab...she just wanted to retrieve something!

These icicles are hanging from my roof, covered in frost.

I just can't imagine that much snow. It's beautiful, but only in pictures. I am a spring/summer person. The cold makes the RSD in my knee really bad. I can't stand the wind to blow on it at all.

The snowflake pic is really cool looking.

You said your old camera, what are you using? I have a really nice canon with a zoom lense, but it is 35mm. I told Keith I wanted one like it but digital for our anniversary. I have a kodac digital, it takes good pics but,I want the zoom.

Hi, Lynn. I'm sure the cold and wind would really bother your knee, so maybe enjoying the snow from the comfort of your chair might work best. :)

I am using a Sony Cybershot 3.2 mega pixels (really puny by today's standards). I've been "shopping" for a new camera for a loooooong time. I've got definite ideas about what I want to do, but don't seem to be camera saavy enough to decide which make/model will come closest to achieving that.

Hey, if you get it all figured out...let me know what you end up with! :)

Just learned how to leave a comment without a blog. Why would someone want to live in a freezer? That looks way to cold. I have to agree with Lynn, pictures are pretty to look at, but that is about it. I guess everybody has to be somewhere. You Picked the North pole. I would pick Australia if I could take these pretty little girls of mine with me. I think that is right, I sure need a spell check button. I really enjoy reading your write ups on you pictures.

Hey, Graydon! It's so great to hear from you! And I'm so glad you're checking out my blog some. I know, living here can be pretty extreme, but so can the heat and humidity of the South, not to mention HURRICANES!!! I'm not sure what Australians have to contend with. :)

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to say hello. I hope I'll hear from you again!

I think that would be several of the most deadly snakes and spiders in the world for the Australians...well, at least that's what I've heard on "Nature's Most Extreme" :)

I love your write ups too, Kimberlee. Fun to read...the icicle picture is really neat and that star...wow, how cool is that! I know we've already talked about it, but I can say it again, huh?

Love you,
Jackie

Hey, Jackie. Yeah, I guess I hadn't thought about the dangerous animals in Australia. And there is a place in New Zealand where they have these holes in the earth that just "happen" out of nowhere. I guess that's just as scary as a hurricane. :)
