Snow Much Enthusiasm!

I think it's pretty obvious that my dogs enjoy snow as much as I do. For the last two or three days we've been experiencing April showers of the frozen variety. It snowed all day today and tonight...it's still snowing! With an ambient temperature of 9 degrees above zero and relatively little wind, this is frisky-making weather without a doubt.

And I love it.

I really like the softness of this type of snow. The silliq, snow made crusty and hard by wind, has been covered with nutagaq, freshly fallen, unpacked snow. The sheen of silliq is interesting, but nutagaq is friendly and inviting. Just walking through it is fun.

As I was walking home from school today, I noticed footprints leading up to the roof of these old "hotel" living quarters. If the nice weather continues, unexpected footprints will appear all over the village. To kids, all the world is a playground and the more unexpected, the better.

The picture of the running dogs is very good. I don't think I've seen one like that before, from that perspective.

LOL! Thanks, Steve. Capturing Precious in action isn't difficult; she's always moving. Catching her IN FOCUS is a challenge! I thought that tongue lopped over to the side was hilarious, though. So I just had to share it. :)

Hey Kimberlee, Same here...April snow showers and lots of it. Mary seemed puzzle to look out and see her tricycle covered with snow where she had been riding a few days ago on a completely clean deck. I love the dog photo. And what's that spot on the ground in the photo of the sun? Is it some sort of reflection or what? And by the way, I noticed you put 4 little photos in one square spot on your last post (the kids swinging). How did you do that? Same as you said about my last questions? Use "none" on photo layout and drag them around? Oh, also, my camera must not be exactly like the one you use...it does not do sound and as you saw on the family blog, they are not very clear. More later, Jackie

Hey, Jackie! I'm glad you liked the dog photo. I don't know if it's as funny when you don't know the dog, but it really seemed like that photo caught the happiness they were feeling being out in the snow. That tongue just cracks me up! :)

The shiny spot in the middle of the snow/sun photo was a surprise for me. I didn't see anything shiny on the ground when I took it, so I'm guessing it's a snowflake that happened to catch the light as I was taking the picture.

The four square and two photos side-by-side were done on a site that has a mosaic maker. You can choose from several different configurations, etc. I've used it a few times, but only with photos on flickr. It should work with photos directly loaded from your computer, though. We can talk about it if you can't get it to work. Here's the link:

You'll have to cut/paste that, I think.

I'll email you about your little video on the family blog. That was fun! :)

Hey Kimberlee, the dogs look truly happy and are smiling. Don't you just love it when they smile. You have made their day!!!

I thought they looked like they were smiling too...such funny expressions. I'm glad the weather has been nice enough lately for them to get out every day.

Thanks for dropping by!
