As I suspected it might, the first day of Spring turned out to be a sunny, blue-sky day and the village was literally bustling with activity. Snow machines and four wheelers zipped and darted all around, their riders obviously unbothered by a windchill in the negative forties.
And snow removal, which happens year-round to some extent, gets a huge boost this time of year. Hauling tons and tons of snow from point A to point B is a fairly big job that requires fairly big machinery.
Two slightly out-of-focus ravens supervised today's progress from a distance...
...while two little guys busied themselves with big machinery of their own.
Yep, it's finally Spring!

Neat post, Kimberlee. I thought those photos of the big equipment looked like a Tonka toy on a sand pile. Then the photo of the kids with the toys finished the sequence nicely.
Thanks, Steve. Those big machines do seem like toys as they cart around all that snow. I'll bet the guys who drive them feel a little bit like they're playing (if they were honest about it). I'm waiting to see what will happen to the duck. He's made it through quite a few winters relatively unscathed, but I always worry. Thanks for checking in! :)
That's one heck of a way to chime in Spring. If not the heat yet, at least you have the sunlight hours on the increase!
Thanks for stopping by..we had another sewing afternoon and half of the benefit is good conversation!
very few ravens here in Gjoa haven maybe 5!
Appreciate you leaving a comment as often those outside xanga don't and as you know with the other northern bloggers of the discussion is the key!
Robert...
Yes, we are getting LOTS of sunlight these days. It's a tricky time of year in that it looks warm, but is actually still extremely cold. Kids get a lot of frostbite during these bright springtime months. Thanks for saying hello!
Bonnie...
I think I've seen maybe two pairs of ravens so far this spring. They huddle together on top of vents most of the time. Sometimes they even build their nests on the vents. I really like ravens...they have quirky little (or big) personalities. :) Thanks.
