How often do I cling
to stem
or
vine
fearful, in releasing,
some loss
to
find?
Wind, a graceful partner,
sways hearts
to
dance.
Sweetness only ripens,
given
the
chance.
The Wind softly beckons.
Freely
let
go.
No more decreasing, my
heart must
be
bold!
Summer is waning, so
changes
must
come.
Only in losing may
some things
be
won.

I'm not a poet...and I DEFINITELY know it. :)
I had several end-of-summer photos loaded onto a draft post, but kept coming back to these two. They seemed to speak so clearly to things occupying my thoughts of late. After days of trying to choose the right words to explain and/or describe, I decided the fewer words, the better. After all, sometimes less is more. But, sometimes, it's just less. So, it is with some reluctance that I "let go" and put my heart out there. If some small part of what I intended actually translates, I guess it will be worth the embarrassment.
Poetry!!
Hey, Kimberlee. Beautiful thoughts and lovely setting. No need for embarrassment at all, in the words themselves nor the decision to share them.
Do it again.
Thank you very much for the kind encouragement, Steve. Poetry, more than any other form of writing, takes me well outside the boundaries of my comfort zone. With this post, I finally decided that communicating my thoughts/feelings was more important to me than being artistic or getting it "right." If you were able to make sense of it, then I'm happy with that. Thanks again. :)
A very beautiful expressing of the changing of the seasons, both in nature, and of the soul. It was just what I needed yesterday! :)
Hey, Bryan! Great to hear from you. Thank you so much for sharing your kind response, especially since internet communication isn't so easy for you at the moment! :)
Kimberlee,
Thank you for sharing some your talents again. I really love your photos on the blog and flicker. You are great P.R. for Atqasuk. It's such a pretty day. And I love you poem. Rm
Hi!
My name is Priscilla Susook, and I was looking for pictures of my grandfather- Johnny Nayukok, and I found this site! I must say, your views and upholdings of what I call my "hometown" are very captivating and beautiful. All of my favorite childhood memories were made there, and seeing your blog brought back those good memories.
Thank you for sharing!!!
Priscilla
Rm...
Thanks for your sweet comments about my photos and blog, in general. I'm glad that you enjoy my posts, but I'm even more excited that you're getting to see some of Atqasuk's beauty for yourself. Thank you!
Priscilla,
I am so glad to meet you! How amazing that you discovered my blog! Johnny and Hazel are two of my very favorite people here in Atqasuk. I have several ulus and a few baleen boats made by your aapa. I also have a photo of his pivsi that I will be posting in the next few days...so check back! :) It makes me so happy to know that my thoughts and photos inspire good memories for you. This is a special place and it's important to me that I present it fairly and authentically. I appreciate your comments. If you ever visit Atqasuk, I hope you will say hello! :)
Hey, great new profile photo, Kimberlee! Very nice.
Thanks, Steve. The other photo was about 2 years old, so (though painful to admit) it seemed high time to update. :)
